Hello, I am back. After a long time of quiescence (pardon my spelling), here I am back returning to where I used to be. After seeing sunshine and rain, I have finally come to my senses. Since the last time I posted my last post here, there were many things that happened. Those 1 and a half years that I was away from my humble ebode (as what my friend Elmer calls this page), I have been through ups and lows, have searched highs and lows, and seek troughs and crests.

Now, I am finally up.

Yup!

I will be updating all of my accounts, starting from this blog page, twitter, facebook, YM to my other VoIP applications. So basically, I am online everywhere now that I have personal notebook of my own. I am connected any time, any where ( as long as I am not in my churvaness)

This will be update somewhere in December. So to say, I will be redecorating everything before the new year comes in. If not, then in the first month would not be a bad idea after all. I am busy anyway lately. wehehhe

I have lotsa of things in store for everyone.

5 Habits to Break Before It's Too Late

You want to live a long, full life -- to be young and lean forever. But you could be doing yourself more harm than good.

"Someday," you say, "I'm going to get my health back on track, after this next project," or "when I get back from my cruise," or "when the kids get a little older" ... C'mon, you know your list of reasons -- or what I call EXCUSES -- better than I.

Look, if you're waiting for some magical day to appear, you just may be waiting forever. These days do not "show up"; you show up for THEM. I have identified five critical areas, bad habits that many people mindlessly follow. Do you realize that each and every day of your life that you do not reverse these dangerous trends, you get farther and farther from your ultimate goal of living a fulfilling life?

Take a look at each area, determine how you stack up, and then make the fix today:

1) Stealing from sleep: Studies show that a minimum of seven to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep (at night) are essential for health. Sleep is the time when your body repairs and recovers from all of the metabolic processes that your body performs every second. Sleep supports healthy weight management, raises growth hormone, and heals the adrenals. If you are watching TV, working on your PC, or otherwise stimulating yourself so that you are unable to go to sleep by 11 PM, then establish the Power Down Hour and turn to more relaxing activities like baths, light novels, or cuddling with a loved one (or pet!) at least an hour or two before bedtime. Then ... retrain yourself to sleep through the night.

2) Skipping breakfast: How many times do you find yourself dashing out the door to start your day, only to discover that you forgot to eat? Listen, your body has just "fasted" overnight, and in order to fuel yourself for the day (and lower stress hormones), you must eat a balanced meal that includes proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Otherwise, your body will turn on itself for fuel, and it isn't fat but muscle that it's going to target ... which will cascade into a very nasty sequence of health consequences that will make you fat, old, and tired before your time.

3) Blowing off exercise: If you think you can manage your health and weight through dietary means alone, it won't work. Period. Exercise is crucial for stimulating proper physical and hormonal response necessary for building muscle and bone, burning fat, letting you sleep, keeping you young, giving you energy -- the list is endless. More important is the CORRECT type of exercise, which involves high-intensity interval training, along with resistance workouts. If you can't find 20-30 minutes a day to incorporate these exercises into your life (oh yeah, that is ALL you need, by the way), then you can kiss your health goodbye.

4) Noshing at night: Strapping on the feedbag in the evenings basically signals your body to hold off on burning existing fat stores, raises stress hormones before bedtime, and screws up your body's natural digestive processes at a time when it should be ready to shut down and repair. If you are eating in a hormonally-balanced way during your evening meal, there is absolutely no need to munch afterward.

5) Not counting your beverages: One of the craziest things I encounter in my work is the lack of consideration of high-calorie, high-sugar drinks in the diet. Yes, those healthy "Jumbo Juices," designer coffee slurpees (hey, they may as well be, given all the sugar in them), and those harmless little cocktails every night, especially those fruit-flavored martini and tequila drinks, can really pack on the pounds in a hurry. Make the switch to healthier options like iced green tea -- or, my favorite, Emergen-C -- for some sparkling mineral replacements that not only satisfy, but also fuel and nourish!

Everytime you have a video post in your blog, it bothers you seeing it in native 320 x 240 resolution. Change it by changing the entries in html code. After uploading video to your post, try to switch to html mode by pressing "Edit Html" beside "Compose."

You can see an embed code similar to below:

As you can see, Blogger downscale the video to 320 x 240 px as default so change the height and width to 640 x 480 pixels to resize the video frame and publish post.

SUNDAY, Oct. 18 (HealthDay News) -- Just about every month -- if not every week -- a new study emerges touting the health benefits to be gained from a daily glass of wine or a pint of dark beer.

The benefits related to cardiovascular health have become well-known. A study released in mid-July, for instance, found that moderate alcohol consumption reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease in women by increasing the amount of "good" cholesterol in the bloodstream and reducing blood sugar levels.

But other studies have linked a daily drink, most often wine, to reduced risk of dementia, bone loss and physical disabilities related to old age. Wine also has been found to increase life expectancy and provide potential protection against some forms of cancer, including esophageal cancer and lymphoma.

But don't invest in that case of Pinot noir just yet.

Experts with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association say that though these studies do show some benefits to moderate drinking, the health risks from alcohol consumption far outweigh the potential rewards.

Drinking any alcohol at all is known to increase your risk for contracting a number of types of cancer, said Susan Gapstur, vice president of epidemiology for the American Cancer Society. These include cancers of the mouth, pharynx, larynx, esophagus, liver, colon/rectum and breast.

"At the end of the day, if you are at very high risk for cancer, you might want to limit your alcohol consumption even further," Gapstur said. "It's a lifestyle modification you can make, and we don't have as many lifestyle modifications for preventing cancer as we do for coronary heart disease."

There also are other health risks from moderate drinking, including liver damage and accidents caused by impaired reflexes, said Dr. Jennifer Mieres, director of nuclear cardiology at the New York University School of Medicine and an American Heart Association spokeswoman.

The health benefits from drinking generally are related to the antioxidants and anti-inflammatories found in red wines and dark beers, Mieres said, but those substances can be found in a number of different fruits and vegetables.

"When it comes to disease prevention, you're better off changing your diet to include fruits and vegetables and get your antioxidants and anti-inflammatories from natural sources," she said.

For example, people can get resveratrol -- the antioxidant found in red wine that's believed to provide most of the drink's health benefits -- from drinking grape juice just as well as from drinking wine, Mieres said.

"For people that don't drink, not drinking is important," Mieres said. "You can get the same benefits of drinking from leading a heart-healthy lifestyle. To me, it's not worth the risk to start drinking. But for people who enjoy a glass of red wine or enjoy drinking, the key is to stick to the definition of moderation," she said.

Moderate drinking is defined as one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. What counts as one drink are:

12 ounces of regular beer or wine cooler
8 ounces of malt liquor
5 ounces of wine
1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits or liquor

Drinking anything more than that on a daily basis is known to lead to a host of health problems that can reduce your life expectancy, Mieres and Gapstur said.

"I think the take-home message is, if you don't drink, don't start to help protect yourself from coronary heart disease because there are so many other things you can do," Gapstur said. "If you already drink, you might want to limit your consumption."

Though the studies touting the positive health effects of alcohol are scientifically accurate, they also appear to play into people's desires for quick fixes to complex problems, Mieres said.

"To prevent heart disease, 50 percent of the work has to come from you," she said. "Prevention is a big piece, and you have to be accountable. You have to make lifestyle changes, and that's very tough to do. People look for easy ways to get heart-healthy benefits, and drinking is an easy way to do that. It's a known human tendency: Let's find an easy way out that doesn't involve a lot of thought or work."

See nine things that zap your vitality and how to get it back

It's 3 p.m.--do you know where your energy's gone? You probably expect to feel that late-afternoon drag, but you don't always have to. Turns out, some of your regular habits may be sneakily zapping your zip. Fix some or all of these energy stealers, and you just may be feeling brighter this afternoon.

Energy Zapper #1: Being Addicted to E-mail
Isn't being wired to the hilt--e-mail, voice mail, IM, BlackBerry--supposed to boost productivity, freeing up your energy? More often, the opposite is true. If you continually halt what you're doing to answer e-mail, check voice mail, and attend to a thousand other beeps and blips, your attention becomes diluted, which leaves you feeling depleted.

There are two things going on here, says John Salerno, MD, a New York City family physician and director of the Salerno Center for Complementary Medicine. "The brain needs a lot of physical and mental energy to multitask, which gets drained," he says. And continually redirecting your attention from the BlackBerry to other stimuli siphons more energy and distracts your brain further.

Energy Fix
Switch off electronic gadgets during your most productive work hours, which for most people tend to be in the morning, says Laura Stack, author of The Exhaustion Cure. As for e-mail, try to limit yourself to checking it once every hour, instead of hopping to whenever it beeps. (Hint: Turn off the beep sound.) If something pops into your mind that you need to remember--call back your mom, e-mail the soccer coach about the snack schedule--write it down and take care of it later.

Energy Zapper #2: Visual Clutter
We may be used to living in enclosed spaces with lots of stuff--a refrigerator door packed with artwork, a countertop laden with mail, a desk that's little more than a shifting pile of folders and paper--but it's not how we're meant to live, says Dr. Salerno. "Clutter signals disorder, which makes us anxious. Our brains sense that anxiety."

Energy Fix
Do your best to clear visual clutter, so when you look around, your eyes can "rest" rather than dart from mess to mess, says Janice Ash, organization expert and owner of I Declutter!. Instead of layering papers on a bulletin board, leave a small border of space around them. Clear the front of the fridge of all but the most current kids' artwork, and make a habit of leaving the kitchen counter stuff-free before bed each night.

Energy Zapper #3: Being Bored
Ever sat around for an hour or more not tackling a chore or work because it's just so darned monotonous? Mental foot-dragging, boredom and lack of motivation are draining, says Dr. Salerno. "Put simply, we like to see results, and getting things done gives us a mental energy boost." So avoiding tasks deprives you of that high.

Energy Fix
Find a partner for encouragement--a friend, a coworker--and call or e-mail to enlist her in a time challenge. "Say, ‘I'll check back in with you in an hour, and we'll see if we've gotten these reports/ organizing chores done.'" Or promise yourself motivational rewards for completing the task at hand, suggests Dr. Salerno.

Energy Zapper #4: Poor Posture
You already know that not sitting or standing straight is bad for your body. But all that hunching over a computer screen or cradling a phone on your shoulder wreaks havoc on your energy level, too, says Pia Martin, a San Diego health and wellness chiropractor. "When you sit for long periods, you tend to slump forward, leading to rounded shoulders and a tilted lower spine. Your muscles contract, and blood flow is impaired," which limits the amount of oxygen to your brain.

Energy Fix
Sit up straight! Your legs should be at right angles to the floor, your arms at right angles to your keyboard. Be conscious of keeping your shoulders down, not up near your ears. Adjust your computer screen so your eyes gaze at the middle of it. And don't just sit there--if you have to, set a timer to go off hourly to remind you to get up, stretch and get a drink of water. When you get back to your desk, do a quick posture check: Shoulders down! (Reboot your posture with these tips.)

Energy Zapper #5: Toxic Indoor Air
Humming copy machines. Cleaning products. Dry-cleaning chemicals. Synthetic carpeting. Even the desks in your office may be contributing to the load of toxins you breathe each day, because all of them release chemicals into the air. "No one knows for sure how much harm these cause to our bodies, but they do build up over time, and can drain your energy by potentially interfering with thyroid function and overloading the body's detox system," says Frank Lipman, MD, a New York City physician and author of Spent: End Exhaustion and Feel Great Again. (Reduce your exposure to chemical toxins.)

Energy Fix
Get outside. If you're feeling tired, go out for 10 minutes to breathe fresh air. Indoors, cultivate houseplants, which are remarkably good at absorbing toxins. And don't wear shoes inside the house--you're dragging not just dirt indoors on your soles, but pesticides and other harmful chemicals too.

Energy Zapper #6: Eating Too Much at Once
Consuming a big meal is always something that will cause a dip in energy later, but that effect is most noticeable in the afternoon because the slump happens at that reach-for-coffee-or-sugar hour: 3 p.m. Here's what happens: You fill up on a carb- and calorie-rich lunch and, as nutrients are absorbed by your body, excess glucose is dumped into your bloodstream, and your body releases insulin to process all that sugar. "A better idea is to spread out what and how you eat throughout the day to keep energy levels steady," says Gloria Tsang, RD, founder of the nutrition website HealthCastle.com.

Energy Fix
Eat every four hours, instead of the usual six. To reform lunch, "try to brownbag more often than eating out," says Tsang. It's a fact that if you buy takeout or dine in a restaurant, you're likely to eat more. Four hours after lunch, have a snack. If you're going to eat dinner a couple of hours later, keep the snack small, such as half a turkey sandwich, or a yogurt and some crackers. Other ideas: Drink liquids (water, tea) all day. "Dehydration makes you tired, too," says Tsang. If you usually have coffee right after lunch, try it a little later in the afternoon and make it a latte. The caffeine's an obvious pick-me-up, but the little bit of fat and protein in the milk gives you a snack-like boost. (Increase your energy with a smarter lunch.)

Energy Zapper #7: Living in Artificial Light
Our natural body rhythms are keyed to the rising and setting of the sun, says Carol Ash, DO, medical director of Sleep for Life, a sleep-disorder clinic in Somerset, New Jersey. When you open your eyes in the morning and get your first glimpse of sunlight, your brain receives a signal that helps it set its sleep-wake clock for the day. Similarly, seeing sunlight during the day gives your brain a boost. So if you are awake before the sun, and/or don't see much sun all day, your body is experiencing something a lot like jet lag.

Energy Fix
Instead of hitting the coffee cart when you're flagging, hit the sidewalk--the combination of physical exercise and a shot of sunlight will energize you. You don't need much: "A 10- to 20-minute walk in the sunshine will give you a boost," says Dr. Ash.

Energy Zapper #8: Listening to Negative Nellies
You may be upbeat, but it can be exhausting to listen to complainers all day long, whether it's the fellow mom who calls to trash-talk the neighbors or the coworker who never has a positive word to say. It's not your imagination: A 2006 study at Chicago's Northwestern University found that people forced to listen to "high-maintenance" colleagues became frustrated and unfocused, and suffered a decline in the quality of their work.

Energy Fix
Insulate yourself as best you can. If a coworker loves to enumerate her complaints, cut her off with a firm but polite "I really have to get this finished," then smile and get to work. She'll get the message. If it's your own negative thoughts that drag you down, train yourself to banish them by listing, daily, the things you're grateful for, so you can pull out that list when the negative stuff intrudes.

Energy Zapper #9: Holding a Grudge
It takes a surprising amount of energy to remember whom you have a grudge against, and to continually update the faults, missteps and things you're mad about. "Resentment is a huge drain physically as well as mentally," says Dr. Lipman. "Anger, resentment, grudges--all of these emotions are toxic, and we hang on to them in our bodies especially in tense, tired muscles."

Energy Fix
It takes practice, but try to forgive old mistakes. An easy way to start is to simply be aware of the times negative thoughts about others creep into your mind, says Dr. Lipman. "Think of others as flawed humans, which we all are," which makes it easier to forgive-and free up energy.

Masskara or Maskara have been celebrated to bring joy and hope despite the difficult time. The goal of Maskara Festival is mostly economic because the first time the city conducted it was when it was experiencing aggravated economic depression. To enliven the spirit of Negrenses and make them smile through the difficult times, this festival was formed. That is why the faces you can see in Maskara festival are mostly of smiles and joy. The Aero Theme Application Dillema.

Some are trying to modify the their aero themes by downloading themes not programmed by Microsoft in Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate. They even modify their shell. However, "the visual style could not be applied." appears even if you patch the uxtheme many times. Microsoft announced that they did not restrict their OS with theme customization but it is an error in mismatching the resource file of the theme to the MUI.

After some research, it was determined custom theme support was not blocked in any way. The inability to apply themes appears to be a bug with the resource cache tool, patched by KB933928. The root of the problem, however, lies with theme authors. Themes MUST have a properly (matching the .msstyle name) named MUI otherwise Bad Things Happen.

What You Need To Know About x264 Encoding Part 1

I am busy converting my video files to AVC/MP4 to reclaim disk space. However, for those who are new to this codec technology and you plan to re-encode your video files in lossless quality to AVC based MP4 or MKV, here are a few you need to learn.

What Is x264?

Along with some excellent commercial AVC encoders, like MainConcept and the Ateme encoder used in Nero, the open source x264 library has become a popular option for creating AVC files. Although there are command line x264 encoders available for Windows, they're only one implementation of the core x264 code. It's also found in programs like VLC and ffmpeg, allowing it to be used across a variety of operating systems.

1. Codec: Compressor/Decompressor. Here, x264 is the codec, also known as an "encoder." DivX is a codec. Xvid is a codec. If you downloaded the DTS_x264 package, you now have the encoder (the part that compresses the video) along with the decompressor, also known as a "decoder" (the part that lets you play the videos you produce or "encode"). You will probably never have to adjust the decoder software, so this guide doesn't mention it. Note that "codec" is different from a "standard:" H.264 is the standard on which x264 is based. MPEG4-ASP is the standard on which Xvid and DivX are based. MPEG4 is not a codec. It is not an MP3. It is a standard.

2. Bitrate: This related to the final file size ("filesize"). The higher the bitrate, the higher the quality, the larger the file. It is usually expressed in units of (data/time), such as KB/sec or kbps. Scenes in a video with high amounts of motion tend to need more bitrate in order to turn out in acceptable quality since the more motion there is, the more data the codec must store in the file.

3. Quantizer: A unit upon which the encoder's decisions about quality are based. Note that higher quantizers yield lower quality and lower bitrate (and thus less filesize).

4. Pass: One full round of processing the input source file. Depending on which mode you choose, the codec will have to go through the file a certain number of times. The first time through ("Pass 1" or "First Pass") is used to get to know your source video, and the codec writes about what it sees in a "pass file," which it uses the second (or third) time through the video to decide how much bitrate and what quantizers go where in order to produce the best quality it can. Note that in the "constant" quality or "constant" quantizer mode, there is only one pass because the codec already knows what quality to encode at--this quality value is specified by the user. It is also independent of bitrate; the codec will simply take as much as it needs to achieve the specified quality.

5. Encoding speed: Defined as "how long it takes for the encoder to process/encode the entire file, at any given point in time, expressed in frames/sec (fps)." This means that you have an overall or average encoding speed (based how long it took from start to finish), and instantaneous encoding speeds throughout the video processing, varying during each scene of the video. Encoding speed tends to be lower when processing high-motion scenes.

Sounds Complicated?

The most important thing to remember is that you don't have to write the commands for x264 yourself. There are a number of programs which do the work for you, presenting you with a GUI which uses checkboxes, lists, and text boxes to set various options with. While you can certainly stick to complete automation, you may find that you want to adjust the settings a little, or even just read the command being generated. While it may be intimidating if you're not used to working on the command line, reading and even writing these commands is simpler than you might think.

For now we'll stick to the most basic settings. Are you wondering if there is a sidebar player that also plays videos? I had a hard time finding a sidebar gadget that also plays videos, but the only thing I could find is sidebar audio player. I am glad to find this gadget. I downloaded it from Microsoft website through www.gallery.microsoft.com/sidebar/vista.aspx. It is a nice player because it utilizes Windows Media Player engine to play a multimedia file without to worry about CPU usage. Here are the screenshots. You can undock the gadget from the sidebar or dock to a minimum size in the sidebar. Suprisingly you can go for a full screen viewing when you are watching or playing video. Unfortunately, there is no playlist and repeat functionality. However it is nice to have this than nothing at all.

1. The Universe

The source of energy, matter and the universe itself is the ultimate mystery of, well, the universe.

Based on a widespread afterglow called the cosmic microwave background (and other evidence), scientists think that the cosmos formed from a "Big Bang" -- an incomprehensible expansion of energy from an ultra-hot, ultra-dense state.
Describing time before the event, however, may be impossible.
Still, atom smasher searches for particles that formed shortly after the Big Bang could shed new light on the universe's mysterious existence -- and make it a bit less strange than it is today.

2. Life

Matter and energy abound in the universe, but only in a few places is the roll of the cosmic dice perfect enough to result in life.

The basic ingredients and conditions necessary for this strange phenomenon are better understood than ever before, thanks to abundant access to life here on Earth.
But the exact recipe -- or recipes -- to go from the basic elements of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur to an organism is a prevailing mystery.
Scientists seek out new areas in the solar system where life could have thrived (or still may, such as below the surface of watery moons), in hopes of arriving at a compelling theory for life's origins.

3. Gravity

The force that helps stars ignite, planets stay together and objects orbit is one of the most pervasive yet weakest in the cosmos

Scientists have fine-tuned just about every equation and model to describe and predict gravity, yet its source within matter remains a complete and utter mystery.
Some think infinitesimal particles called gravitons exude the force in all matter, but whether or not they could ever be detected is questionable.

Still, a massive hunt is on for major shake-ups in the universe called gravitational waves. If detected (perhaps from a merger of black holes), Albert Einstein's concept that the universe has a "fabric" of spacetime would be on solid ground.

4. Planets

It might sound strange because we live on one, but planets are some of the more mysterious members of the universe.

So far, no theory can fully explain how disks of gas and dust around stars form planets -- particularly rocky ones.

Not making matters easier is the fact that most of a planet is concealed beneath its surface. Advanced gadgetry can offer clues of what lies beneath, but we have heavily explored only a few planets in the solar system.

Only in 1999 was the first planet outside of our celestial neighborhood detected, and in November 2008 the first bona fide exoplanet images taken.

5. Dark Energy

What really has everyone on the planet confused -- including scientists -- is dark energy.

To continue with the pie analogy, dark energy is a Garfield-sized portion at 73 percent of the known universe. It seems to pervade all of space and push galaxies farther and farther away from one another at increasingly faster speeds.

Some cosmologists think this expansion will leave the Milky Way galaxy as an "island universe" in a few trillion years with no other galaxies visible.

Others think the rate of expansion will become so great that it will result in a "Big Rip." In this scenario, the force of dark energy overcomes gravity to disassemble stars and planets, the forces keeping particles sticking together, the molecules in those particles, and eventually the atoms and subatomic particles. Thankfully, humankind probably won't be around to witness to cataclysm.

6. Dark Matter

If you put all of the energy and matter of the cosmos into a pie and divvy it up, the result is shocking.

All of the galaxies, stars, planets, comets, asteroids, dust, gas and particles account for just 4 percent of the known universe. Most of what we call "matter" -- about 23 percent of the universe -- is invisible to human eyes and instruments.

For now, scientists can see dark matter's gravitational tug on stars and galaxies, but are searching feverishly for ways to detect it first-hand. They think particles similar to neutrinos yet far more massive could be the mysterious, unseen stuff.

7. Neutrinos

Pull out a dime from your pocket and hold it up for a second... guess what? About 150 billion tiny, nearly massless particles called neutrinos just passed through it as though it didn't even exist.

Scientists have found that they originate in stars (living or exploding), nuclear material and from the Big Bang. The elementary particles come in three "flavors" and, stranger still, seem to disappear on a whim.

Because neutrinos occasionally do interact with "normal" matter such as water and mineral oil, scientists hope they can use them as a revolutionary telescope to see beyond parts of the universe obscured by dust and gas.

8. Magnetars

The sun spins about once every 25 days, gradually deforming its magnetic field.
Well, imagine a dying star heavier than the sun collapsing into a wad of matter just a dozen miles in diameter.

Like a spinning ballerina pulling his or her arms inward, this change in size spins the neutron star -- and its magnetic field -- out of control.

Calculations show these objects possess temporary magnetic fields about one million billion times stronger than the Earth's. That's powerful enough to destroy your credit card from hundreds of thousands of miles away, and deform atoms into ultra-thin cylinders.

9. Black Holes

Speaking of black holes, what could be stranger?

Beyond a black hole's gravitational border -- or event horizon -- neither matter nor light can escape. Capturing Analog Audio Using 1Audio headphone Pin, 2 RCA Jacks

Well, I admit! I kept magnetic cassette tapes before. Audio compact discs were expensive when it was young and starting in the market. So I kept all of my favorite songs in cassette tapes. I even recorded some straight from FM radio stations signal and some from other sources. I even kept audio recording of friends’ conversation and forums. As technology advances and recordable media are becoming cheaper and smaller, magnetic cassette tapes have to leave limelight and even our shelves. In other words, this media is completely obsolete. Half of the space in my multimedia storage cabinet is occupied by magnetic tapes. I was thinking of converting these analogue audio recordings to digital to claim space in my cabinet. I have around more than 100 cassette tapes, and I need to slash the bulk to reclaim some space. It was hard for me because I had been searching for audio capturing cable but I was glad to find that there is a commercial and cheap audio capturing cable you can find in the market. Below are the devices you need for capturing audio signal from a HiFi source or audio component.

Here are the things you need for analogue audio capturing:

1. 1 headphone pin, 2 RCA jacks adapter

2. 1headphone pin, 2 RCA pins cable.

You can also buy headphone pins cable where the two ends are all headphone pins so that you don’t need to use 1 headphone pin, 2 RCA jacks adapter.

3. HiFi Component with cassette tape player
4. Audio capturing software: Try NCH Wave Pad or Nero Wave Editor.

Here are the steps to install the devices.

1. Plug the audio headphone pin from the cable to the audio jack or socket of the HiFi audio component.
2. Plug the 2 RCA pins found at the other end of the cable to the 2 RCA jacks of 1Audio Pin, 2 RCA Jacks Adapter.
3. Plug the 1 headphone pin to the Line In phone jack at the back of the computer. MIC Jack can pick up the audio signals if you choose this jack but the appropriate jack used in analog audio capturing is the Line In Audio Jack Interface.

When everything is okay, try to run a test by playing a cassette tape to the component to see if the sound card can detect sound signal. If you cannot hear anything, go to Windows Record Mixer and enable the LINE IN recording device by enabling the LINE IN audio jack, “un-muting” the device, setting the volume to audible level, or configuring the device properties. Enabling your recording device depends on your sound card hardware, so you have to check the manual that came when you purchased the device or computer. If the software of your choice can detect audio signals, you can start recording.

Here are the pointers you need to bear in mind when capturing analog audio signal from a HiFi audio source or component:

1. The audio cassette player should be playing the audio itself coming from what is recorded in the cassette tape. Any noise not coming from cassette but coming from the player itself like buzzing, hissing, and clicks during the playback is not appropriate for audio capturing. It will just ruin your digital audio recording. If you believe that there is no problem in your cassette player but still produces noises, try to clean your cassette tape by rewinding from end to end, both sides of the cassette.
2. Make sure the cassette media is played 2 to 3 times before the actual time of audio capturing. This will ensure that surface is particle free due to lengthy storage. When the cassette tapes are stored for a very long time, molds build upon the surfaces of the magnetic tapes. That is why there is a need to clean the tape first by either playing the cassette 2 to 3 times from start to end, both sides, or rewinding the magnetic cassette tape from start to end and vice versa to loosen the particles and molds that reside the surface of the magnetic tape.
3. Also clean the surfaces of the cassette player like the rollers, heads, etc. so that you will get noiseless and crisp sound when the playback occurs. It is also a good idea to demagnetize the head of the player with a demagnetizer.
4. When you are done with converting the analog signal to digital signal through audio capturing, always convert your digitally captured audio signals to Stereo. Stereo renders marvelous sound quality than monaural.
5. Always resample your digital audio recording to 44,100 khz. Audio recording having frequencies lower than 44 Khz is considered low quality. 44, 100 khz frequency is the standard frequency employed in most digital audio recording. 48, 000 khz is better but 96, 000 and 192, 000 khz are the best because they are audio frequencies used studio recording. Hence, the audio having frequencies between 96, 000 to 192, 000 kilohertz are studio quality audio recording.
6. If there are unwanted noises in the recorded analog audio like hissing, buzzing, clicks, try to apply denoising feature found in most audio capturing software. You can also cut the portion that cannot be remedied by noise gating feature.
7. Always save your digital recording in MP3 format using either of the two well known MP3 encoder: LAME and MP3Pro. Other formats are available like Wave (.wav) or Windows Media Audio (.wma) but MP3 is commonly used format in the web and playable in almost audio players bearing the logo MP3. Also, save recordings in high bit rate like 192 kpbs or 256 kbps.
8. Lastly, you can also enhance your audio recording just as long the original properties of the audio is not blurred or lost. Some audio editing software offer different kind of filters that will further enhance audio recordings like stereo widening, amplification, transposition, so on and so forth.

Are you fond of Adobe software products like Adobe Reader or Adobe Photoshop? Sometimes, have you noticed that your computer seems to run a little slower and your browser load pages quite slowly? Also, when you are downloading a file, the kbps transfer rate is also low resulting in longer file download. That is because the scheduled Adobe software update is running in the background. You can check it by looking at the right of taskbar. There is a white icon that, when you rest the mouse pointer, tells the percentage of update download. The update eats CPU resources, RAM, and internet bandwidth as well. You can disable the updater through doing the three methods listed below.

1. Registry Hack

a. Click Start Menu and Run.

b. Enter this syntax:

Sometimes, I wonder what countries are open and welcoming to gay people and relationship. One time while browsing the net, I found this helpful fact. The picture presents a list of countries that are open to homosexuality, but I wonder why United States of America is placed last on the list. On the other hand, I am happy to know that Turkey is open to homosexuality. As you can see on the list, most of the countries listed are from countries of North and South America, Europe, Southern and Northern tips of Africa, and East Asia. It can be concluded that Middle East Countries with hard core and devout Muslim followers abhor homosexuality. Sexual orientation is hard for gay and lesbian people who reside on Muslim based countries in the Middle East because of local customs, religion, and mores. LBGT advocates for gay protection in Middle East Countries as reports are coming out that homosexuals living in these countries are tortured and summarily executed. Some are held in captivity and executed without trials. Most are executed publicly by hanging, decapitation, and fire squad. Some who survived the hostilities fled to other countries and sought for asylum.

I hope this post will spark understanding and open mindedness to people who create walls in their hearts and mind about homosexuality. In my previous blog entries, I featured Lovely Complex anime series. Now I bring you Lovely Complex: Live Action Movie. It is really nice movie but nothing beats the anime series frankly. Well let me jog your memory about the background of the story similar to the anime.

From Wikipedia, "Love★Com is a love story between a boy and a girl." In my opinion, it is a comic love story. The entire story is not a hardcore love story. The story revolves around Risa and Ohtani. What makes their relationship complex is the fact that they are both physically different. Risa's height is 172 cm which is beyond the normal girl's height; Ohtani, 157 cm way shorter than normal boys'. Getting them together in class creates a funny atmosphere where they are ridiculed for being like complete opposite. In fact, the class and the teacher call them as all giants and shorties, "All Hanshin Kyojin". They are considered comedy duo by their classmates because their usual altercation about their height differences brings fun and laughter to their classmates. Having predicaments of finding their own love lives, they get together most of the time because they have the same likes and interests. They have become close friends until Risa unknowingly falls in love with Ohtani one fine day. This has created relationship complexities and endless arguments between them. After all rejections, denials, confessions and heartaches, they finally get together in the end.

My First Time In Bacolod City New Government Center

The modernization of our City has been on going, and it never stops under Mayo Bing Leonardia’s administration. I think the coming to life of the New Government Center is one of the achievements that this administration can boost and boast to people and to itinerants of this City. Conceptualized and conceived prior to Leonardia’s tenure, the New Government Center of the Bacolod City lives up to the expectation of its proponents. A simple glimpse to the built concrete on a picture does not satisfy the inquisitive eye of a traveler like me. So one time, I managed to come to the center to see the place with my two very own brown sullen eyes. Hehehehehehehe

Arriving to the place greets your face with a cold zephyr coming from the canefields surrounding the structure. However, the center of attention is the circular and wide fountain area which spews regal water spurts. It is relaxing to watch the fountain. It is just one of the sights that your eyes can feast and sink in. Beyond the fountain is the majestic and brilliant building of the New Government Center. The place is cool and the people are warm and welcoming. I never had the chance to have contact with the employees but it seems they are amiable folks ready to deal with bureaucratic and social issues of Bacolodnon guys. Not only people are the best sights of the place but also the furniture that relish the entire building. Roaming around the building is quite a problem because site maps and room directories are not yet installed, but the rooms are well organized. There is also lift service that is not yet in service, unfortunately.

Enabling Show hidden files/folders, File Visibility Option in Windows After A Certain Virus Attack

Ever had a virus attack where the effect to your computer file and folder visibility settings is disabled? That happens when you cannot unhide hidden files and folders through file properties or global file or folder visibility setting. Even you enable the option "Show hidden files/folders" in "Tools -> Folder Options", it’s automatically disabled again. When a virus hacked your registry, hack your registry to enable your file and folder hide/unhide setting. Here are the things you need to do.

First Solution:

1. 1. Go to your Start menu, click on Run and open Registry Editor by typing regedit.

2. 2. Click OK

3. 3. When Registry Editor Window pops up, locate this registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folde r\Hidden\SHOWALL

4. 4. Delete the value CheckedValue. (Its type should be REG_SZ where the data should be either 0 or 1.)

5. 5. Create a new DWORD value called CheckedValue (It is the same as above, except that the type will be REG_DWORD) by right clicking on the right pane->New->DWORD Value. Change the value data to 1 (0x00000001).

Second Solution:

1. 1. Go to your Start menu, click on Run and open Registry Editor by typing regedit.

2. 2. Click OK

3. 3. When Registry Editor Window pops up, locate this registry entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Do you possess cornucopia of time? Try sinking your head to art by making graphic illustrations or drawing. This might sound ridiculous as there are some who cannot even draw a simple image of flowers. Well if you are not talented in drawing as other people endowed with gifted hands and minds with superb spatial ability, you can always resort to the proverbial quote, “Practice makes perfect.” I vouched for that though I suspect I have a little knack in drawing. I can neither say I have that dexterity nor expertise, but I know I can draw good images. Well ever since I gambled on drawing for the very first time way back in high school, I was actually surprise to know I could draw somehow. I found out my skill when my friend, whom I affectionately admired, gave me some pencil scribbled art works of Goku, main character in Dragon Ball Z Series. I felt so high, high above me receiving that simple, out of whim gifts from the one you love. Those simple art work gifts inspired me to try to draw one. I was really taken aback to see my work. As others struggle to draw even a simple beautiful life-like flower image, my work is not spectacular but really neat and nice to begin for an amateur me that time. Try to look at my primitive works.

With spontaneous scribbling and, of course, whittling my craft, I come to realize that I am close to perfect my craft. Unfortunately, it is just a personal drawing methodology that I made. I need to follow the way of the true illustrator or cartographer. So I managed to download a 360+ paged E-book tackling about how to draw professionally.

Here are the developments of my drawing methods and preparations. For traditional media, I use smooth paper that cannot be easily torn when excessive force when erasing, scribbling, sketching is applied. I use crayons, watercolors, pens, markers, mechanical pencils, etc. Well what do you expect for a novice, use traditional resources of course! On the other hand, you will use different tools if you specialize in charcoal painting or other art illustrations like painting. Painting is a hobby of the well off. Paints and brushes are expensive too. One should also possess credibility for years if one wants to be professional in painting.

When I start drawing a subject, say a manga or anime character. I usually look my canvass in the form of paper. Then I make invisible divisions to locate the center. I usually do this to properly place the subject to the center of the paper. One of the noteworthy habits of a good graphic illustrator is to create a framework for the subject like in the case of face or body. Then I start measuring and approximating the distances between the elements in the subject like the distance of eyes to nose, head to neck, so on and so forth.

Try to notice also in my work that I don’t use heavy marking. I just hover the pencil on the surface that it seems like I am doing a sketching. To check if you are not putting much stress when sketching, feel the back of your media, say paper. If there are felt bump lines when you touch, then you are putting much stress in your sketching. Doing the aforestated in thick media like cartons and wood is useless.

Drawing on a paper media meant to be messy at first. I noticed that most of the professional illustrators have messy images but they produce clean and neat drawing pieces once the framework and subject’s important elements are drawn. That is why you need to know how to control your hand’s force in sketching and drawing so that it is easy to clean up afterwards.

Deeply scratched paper and heavy written lines and sketches bring unsightly dirt to the art work. Try to notice my primitive drawing pieces above. There are unsightly marks caused by excessive marking and erasing on the paper.

Finally, don’t be afraid to face your creation. Try to bear in mind that you will improve once you do it constantly. You cannot expect your first creation to be neat, nice, similar, and most of all perfect. Try to be patient and learn the tricks as you go to every drawing sessions you do. You will improve in a little time with patience and practice. Try to read books about drawing. It will give you some insights, tricks, techniques, and tints. Besides, the most important lesson to learn when you draw is that you know how to perceive shapes because they are the foundation of a
nice and well drawn subject.

How To Enable Realtek Front High Definition Audio Jacks

When I purchased my computer a year ago, I noticed that there is no rendered audio output from front panel high definition output audio jack, and does not transmit captured signal from microphone jack whenever I plug my head set. After a year, I found out that the front panel jacks were not enabled because the JUSB plug from the device was not plugged to the HD Audio JUSB socket in the main board. So I plugged the device to the socket. I thought that by plugging the device to the appropriate socket would enable and output audio signal from sound card and register sounds from microphone, I was wrong. Unfortunately, there is a setting in the Realtek Audio Manager that needs to be disabled to make the front panel jacks work. I did the following:

1.
1. Try to make sure that the front panel audio jack device is plugged to the mainboard by inspecting your mainboard. If it does not, try plugging it. Every mainboard manufacturer has specific settings and methods to follow before installing or plugging devices. Make sure to check the documentation that came with the computer when you purchased it. My mainboard is an MSI-Nvidia Chipset with Realtek support. Consider some jumper settings as prescribed by the mainboard manual.

2. Once you are sure that the front audio device is correctly plugged in, boot to your OS.

3. Go to Realtek High Definition Audio Manager. My sound card audio codec is ALC883 with driver for Vista. However it does not matter as long as we have the Realtek Audio Control Panel. I have one installed in my XP OS.

4. Go to Control Panel and look for Realtek High Definition Audio Manager.

5. Go to Speakers Tab and look for Connector Settings File Icon. See photo below. Take note that you can see in my photo below that the Front Panel High Definition Audio 2^nd Output Tab is present. 2. Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously.

This setting instance will have a different effect. When your media player allows redirecting audio streams to different audio output, you can play two different audio streams from both audio output jacks. Say for example, when your default audio output device as indicated in the Realtek Audio Control Panel is streamed from rear audio output jacks and you are playing two different songs from two different media players, for example through Windows Media Player and Classic Media Player, the audio stream played from rear audio output jacks will be from system default audio device as played in Windows Media Player, while the audio stream played in Classic Media Player with proper audio redirection set to stream to front audio panel will play the audio stream rendered in Classic Media Player to front panel audio jack. This also goes with microphone jacks in rear and front. It can record two different audio signals from front and rear mic jacks.

Check Separate all input jacks as independent input devices. I recommend this setting because it will show all working and enable audio capture and output device. It separates each and every input device.

9. Click OK to the Device Advance Settings Windows and Finally to Realtek High Definition Audio Manager Window.

10. Check if the settings are working by going again to Realtek High Definition Audio Manager try to test each output device named “Speakers” and “HD Audio 2^nd Output” by changing the default audio output device. If you want to test the front panel audio output, set the default device to HD Audio 2^nd Output. Set Speakers device to default if you want to check.

Well yes, that is the case of LOVECOM: Lovely Complex. The title itself tells right away the story framework. Problems and difficulty of love and romantic relationship. The anime is also relished with funny moments that would make your stomache ache and palpitate your heart at the same time. Let me give you a little background of the story.

From Wikipedia, "Love★Com is a love story between a boy and a girl." In my opinion, it is a comic love story. The entire story is not a hardcore love story. The story revolves around Risa and Ohtani. What makes their relationship complex is the fact that they are both physically different. Risa's height is 172 cm which is beyond the normal girl's height; Ohtani, 157 cm way shorter than normal boys'. Getting them together in class creates a funny atmosphere where they are ridiculed for being like complete opposite. In fact, the class and the teacher call them as all giants and shorties, "All Hanshin Kyojin". They are considered comedy duo by their classmates because their usual altercation about their height differences brings fun and laughter to their classmates. Having predicaments of finding their own love lives, they get together most of the time because they have the same likes and interests. They have become close friends until Risa unknowingly falls in love with Ohtani one fine day. This has created relationship complexities and endless arguments between them. After all rejections, denials, confessions and heartaches, they finally get together in the end.
